The wealthiest spot on this planet is not the oil fields of Kuwait, Iraq, or Saudi Arabia. Neither is it the gold and diamond mines of South Africa, the uranium mines of the Soviet Union, or the silver mines of Africa.
Though it may surprise you, the richest deposits on our planet lie just a few blocks from your house.
They rest in your local cemetery or graveyard.
Buried beneath the soil within the walls of those sacred grounds are dreams that never came to pass, songs that were never sung, books that were never written, paintings that never filled a canvas, ideas that were never shared, visions that never became reality, inventions that were never designed, plans that never went beyond the drawing board of the mind, and purposes that were never fulfilled.
One of the greatest tragedies in life is to watch potential die untapped.
Only a small percentage of the 7 billion people on this planet will experience a significant portion of their true potential.
Are you a candidate for contributing to the wealth of cemetery?
Don’t go to the grave with your treasure within you.
-Dr. Myles Munroe
A man from stage in one of my business ventures shared this interesting twist of information. I was hanging on the edge of the seat waiting for his response since my parents were very keen in traveling and I had plans to send this travel tip to them. To my dismay, he led us directly into a trap filled with truth. This is when I began to pursue projects that brought me two important elements: Loyal Social Capital and keeping my journals up to date with the most recent coincidences. Have you heard of the game called “Connect the Dots?” Did you know that game was to make us aware of how God works in our daily lives? That is definitely one way of looking at it. It is as if we connected the dots and whenever we got stuck, we would wake up with some dots connected where we discontinued the night before. I once heard ” Coincidence is God’s way of staying anonymous”. I have journals where I have spotted over 20 coincidences that needed to take place for this one special moment to arrive. Can you relate? Many things would include the arrival of this blog, the advice of a wealthy friend, the publishing company moving one block from my house and countless others. If I ever doubted writing a book at this point; I would have to pass my publishing company everyday as I leave my neighborhood. I don’t want to pass away and add to this rich soil of talents and I know none of you reading this want to do the same with your talents. If we can embrace positive social capital and work on our journals, I believe we can embark on a journey where our Godly talents will be expressed.
Social Capital: The Spiritual Currency That Keeps on Giving
We are literally surrounded by Diamonds. Friends that wants to help you explore your talents and honor your growth are worth more than diamonds. Friendships were beyond toxic in my life around 2011-2012. When life has given you an abundance of blessings; the sharks start swarming around you. After the sharks had their fair share of my remains; I began seeking individuals that helped me exponentially grow. Mike Patton, a famous rock singer, once said that he wanted to make sure that every room he goes into contains musicians that make him feel uncomfortable. In other words, he wanted to associate with people that are ahead of him or on a higher plain to subconsciously challenge his so-called limitations. If you feel too comfortable in your surroundings; you have made either the conscious or unconscious decision to descend to lower levels. You can change that with your association. The same feeling of a poor person mingling with someone in a higher society; will soon be just like that person. The saying “guilty by association” could also be ” rich by association”. I started looking for people that have my solutions and not my problems. I started buying the opinion of people that had what I wanted and gained credibility through personal experiences. I can honestly say that in 2014; I have not one bad influence in my life and all toxicity has been removed from my chessboard called “life”.
Keeping Up With My Journals
Henry B. Eyring; an apostle of the Lord in Modern times, echoes my bishop’s heed about Journals. These two quote made an impact on my life.
You could ask yourself, ‘How did God Bless me today?’ If you do that long enough and with faith, you will find yourself remembering blessings. And sometimes you will have gifts brought to your mind which you failed to notice during the day, but which you will then know were a touch of God’s hand in your life.”
― Henry B. Eyring
“When our children were very small, I started to write down a few things about what happened every day….I wrote down a few lines every day for years. I never missed a day no matter how tired I was or how early I would have to start the next day. Before I would write, I would ponder this question: “Have I seen the hand of God reaching out to touch us or our children or our family today?” As I kept at it, something began to happen. As I would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day.’
I would suggest that you keep a paper and pencil you your side as you read this book, particularly the stories and examples shared here. I am confident that as you read the stories of others, you will be reminded of times in your life when the Lord has given you special blessings. Or perhaps thoughts will come that will teach you what to do to have your own tender mercies. Write them down, and, if appropriate, share them with your families.”
― Henry B. Eyring
I have tried to keep journals the last 8 years of my life. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints promotes writing in your journal to keep record for your posterity. As the prophets of old, this world would be hell on earth if we didn’t have some type of scriptures defend moral and spiritual standards. Our Church is big on Genealogy (where we do work for those that have passed away and haven’t partaken of the great blessings of the Gospel). Through their journals we can find other family members and we can learn their life lessons by reading a few pages to acquire wisdom. Why worry when you have a partner over seeing your project? Worrying is a waste of energy and it usually stems from some sort of Humanism. To make life easy, write down all the coincidences and every month look back at all your entries and connect the dots. You will notice its a big web grabbing the right experiences for you to grow into the person your were meant to become.
God’s Hand in this Book Project “25 Catholic Mormon 26” .
DEC 2012- JULY 2014 (Dates are shown to add the idea that this was based on His time; not mine)
1. While Living in Hollywood, I met the woman of my dreams and decided to move to Las Vegas.
2. Sitting at a Starbucks in VEGAS, I met Kelly Wilson who inspired me to finally write the book that I have been longing to release. I didn’t go to that Starbucks to intentionally meet him. He just started talking to me while I was working on another project.
3. Chris Hughes, one of my best friends and mentors, gave me some advice on which company I should partner with to publish my book. My best friend had experience with very successful people who used this publishing company. Furthermore, he accepted to write the forward to the book. He has been a great father figure in my life and he drove 3 hours to come baptize me in 2006. Excited we united again for the purposes of moving the Gospel forward.
4. Around the time of this decision, a new Pope was elected and his persona has radically changed some major catholic doctrine. That sparked the idea that I could be the convert who could really bridge other faiths, especially through the internet and book world.
5. I met Tim Schulte; who happens to be my project manager and the only Mormon at his work. I love working with him because he understands our beliefs and understands which road we should take to make this project work.
How could I have planned this? If you feel stuck in your life; allow a dot to be connected by someone on a Higher plane. He knows how to connect them and at what time it should be properly connected. My prayer is that we can all write journals and see how miracles happen everyday .As we keep a journal and choose our associations wisely, we are on our way to not adding to the richness of the soil. The Wealthiest Spot on the planet is not the graveyard if we are aware of God’s hands everyday. After we do this; the wealthiest spots in the world will be the space between our ears . We will acquire the peace of mind gained by knowing we are on our way to becoming what we were meant to become.
